German Spaetzle
This is a delicious recipe for Geman Spaetzle, it is also known as German egg noodle dumplings. Spaetzle is a small, soft dumpling/pasta that is a versatile dish that can be used for many different dishes. It can be served plain or sautéed in a little bit of butter. They are the perfect side dish for this Swedish Meatball recipe!
Ingredients
- 2 cup flour
- 6 eggs
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup butter
- 2 tablespoon fresh parsley + extra for garnish
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
- Combine flour, nutmeg, and parsley.
- Lightly beat eggs.
- Mix together eggs, milk, and flour.
- Let batter rest for 30 minutes or more.
- Bring water to a boil.
- Pour a cup of batter into the colander and forced through holes with a
- spatula over boiling water. Small elongated drops will boil and rise to the
- top where you can use a slotted spoon to remove and place in a bowl.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high with butter. Fry the spaetzle for 5 minutes
- or until golden.
- Garnish with parsley. Serve with Swedish Meatballs and Gravy.
