Why You'll Love This Apple Cider Mix
- It's super quick to make- all you need is 10 minutes. Plus, no cooking required!
- It's perfect for cozy nights or big family gatherings- just like my Christmas sugar cookie shot!
- It works wonderfully as a handmade gift. Add to jars with a ribbon and gift tag, and done!
Recipe Ingredients

- Sugar: I used a mix of white and brown sugar for that nice color and a bit of a deeper flavor.
- Apple powder: You can find this online easily!
- Ground spices: I used the classics- cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. I used this combination in my crispy apple pie taquitos too and the flavor was SO good.
How to Make Apple Cider Mix

- Combine the ingredients in a medium mixing bowl. Whisk until fully blended.

- If there are lumps, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer and use the back of a spoon to gently press any clumps through.

- Transfer the prepared apple cider mix into an airtight container or jar. Store it in a dark, dry place (not the fridge!) for up to 2 months.

- Use a clean, dry spoon to portion it out and close the lid immediately after you're done.
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Do not refrigerate or freeze your homemade apple cider mix. Moisture will cause clumping. I realized this when I made my skull cookie mix in a jar too!
- If you have a moisture-absorbing packet (like the kind that comes in spice jars or snacks), toss one into your container to extend freshness.
- Can't find apple powder? No problem! Use 3 ounces of freeze-dried apples and pulse them into a fine powder with a spice grinder. That'll give you the exact amount needed for this recipe.
- Cinnamon can be stubborn and float on top. Use a battery-powered milk frother to blend your cider, it mixes the spices perfectly for a smooth sip.
- If you don't like the slightly grainy texture from the spices, pour your drink through a tea bag before sipping. It'll be a little lighter in flavor but beautifully clear.

Serving Ideas & Suggestions
The easiest way to put this homemade apple cider mix to use it to add 4 teaspoons of the mix to 10 ounces of boiling water and stir it well. That's it! Team it up with some homemade oatmeal raisin cookies for a delightful fall breakfast.
You can also serve it for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's brunch. You can also pair a jar of the apple cider mix cookies, mugs, and cinnamon sticks for an instant gift basket. It's thoughtful, budget-friendly, and feels handmade, because it is!
Another excellent idea is to add a tablespoon to your pancake or muffin batter for a warm apple-spice twist. I really enjoy sprinkling it over my sourdough discard pretzels to lend them that warm, cozy flavor. You can also mix it with hot water and a splash of spiced rum or bourbon for a grown-up nightcap that feels like fall in a cup. For extra flair, rim your glass with brown sugar and cinnamon.

Homemade Apple Cider Mix
Equipment
- Measuring spoons and cups
- Medium Mixing Bowl
- Fine Mesh Strainer (optional)
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar loosely packed
- 1 Cup White Granulated Sugar
- ½ Cup Apple Powder
- 2 Tablespoons Ground Cinnamon
- 1 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
- 1 Teaspoon Ground Clove
Instructions
- Combine all the ingredients in a medium mixing bowl and whisk until fully combined.
- If there are lumps, run the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, using the back of a spoon to crush the lumps through the mesh.
- Store in a sealed container, in a dark dry spot for up to 2 months.
To Make Apple Cider Using the Mix:
- Boil 10 ounces of water and add 4 teaspoons of the apple cider mix to the glass.
- Mix well and enjoy!
Notes
- Do not store in the fridge or freezer as this will introduce moisture into the mix, which will cause it to clump and harden.
- If you have a moisture absorbing packet, you can add that to your jar of apple cider mix for it to last even longer.
- If you can't find apple powder (it's pretty easy to nab online), you can take 3 ounces of freeze dried apples and reduce them to powder in a spice grinder. The 3 ounces, once turned to powder, will be the exact amount you need for this recipe.
- I like using one of those little battery powered milk frothers to mix the cider. It really mixes in the cinnamon, which can be a tad stubborn and sit on top of the drink.
